Book Club Tuesday Sept 8th

Hi all,

This is a reminder that a week from tomorrow (9/8) we are having our book club meeting. We will be discussing The Guersney Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society and the Lost Continent. We really hope that everyone can make it and it would be good to see some members that we haven't seen in awhile :)!

Okay, we had our book club last night and there is much to report!
Sadly, our most faithful member,s Christopher and Heather were not able to attend. Alec, we have practiacally given up on and it was a bummer not to have seen Michelle.
Anyway on to the juice.
We had 9 members in attendance:
Valesca, Denise, Keo, Callah, Julie, Lisa K, Lisa S, Tina and me, Rhonda.
It was good to see Lisa K after her long abscence. Also, a big welcome to Lisa S. Thanks for bringing those swesome Argentinian cookies. Yum.
Onto the books.
We all really enjoyed The Potato Peel Pie book. Everyone felt is was a charmong and entertaining read. The history you are shown about that time period was of interest to many of us. Valesca likened the book to Pride and Prejudice, which many of us have not read. That will surely be on the list soon.
The Bill Bryson book was not as well received. I thought it was pretty humorous, but it was a little redindant in the descriptions of people and places. Interesting that the book was written 20 years ago.
We are anxious to hear what Christopher and Heather thought of both books. Actually, we discussed that Heather really liked the Potato Peel book, like the rest of us.
As for the next read, we will be reading a highly recommended book (thanks Valesca) called The Help, by Kathryn Stockett.
The next meeting time will be October 27th at 7:00 pm.

Wow, quite a turnout for book club! Christopher and I both enjoyed the "longest title of a book" aka The Potato book :) I thought that Bill Bryson's book was a little negative throughout and at times it was funny, but I thought that A Walk Through the Woods was better...

I am so bummed that I missed the Argentinian cookies! I was just thinking about those this past weekend and how much I wanted one. I did miss all of the great company too!

So far Oct. 27th works for us and I am thinking that we should dress up for book club for a Halloween theme! Just kidding!
